John Anthony Gillcrist, Jr., 67, of Jacksonville, FL., passed away on August 19th, 2015. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on December 29th, 1947 to Captain John Anthony Gillcrist, USN (Ret.) and Arax E. Gillcrist.
John graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1970, and served as a pilot instructor during the Vietnam War. John went on to become a certified financial planner and attain his Masters of Business from Jacksonville University.
John is predeceased by his son, 1st Lt. Anthony Lou Gillcrist (USMC); and survived by his wife, Stephanie; his daughter, Kathryn; and his three siblings Helen, Jim, and Tom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, September 11th in Holy Family Catholic Church on Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville. Inurnment in Arlington National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
